Health & Wellness Program

Adolescence is a critical stage of development during which physical, intellectual, emotional, and psychological changes occur. While adolescence is a relatively healthy period of life, adolescents begin to make lifestyle choices and establish behaviors that affect both their current and future health. Our goal is to improve the healthy development, health, safety, and well-being of adolescents and young adults during their stay at Rising Peak Academy.

Our program focuses on healthy activity, while fostering an understanding of nutrition and open communication regarding adolescent health issues. By focusing on family and peer group support we are able to provide an environment for positive development of healthy behaviors for the young men that attend our program. We also provide daily opportunities to expand fitness levels and nutrition education and monitor resident progression to ensure that each resident is able to reach their individual goal(s).


Changing the unhealthy habits of a teenager can be a daunting task. At Rising Peak Academy we promote a healthy relationship between what we put in our bodies and the negative or positive affects food has on our recovery. Many people in early recovery see a change in their eating habits and sugar intake which can result in weight gain. We manage this with each of our residents in order to ensure our young men are eating healthy and learning why on the way.


Exercise and adventure are two elements we have combined at Rising Peak Academy. Leveraging the amazing outdoor opportunities of Montana and the 20 acre campus just outside of Glacier Park, we consistently push the young men to stay active each day. We have a gym on campus with weights and machines as well as a basketball court, bikes, swimming pond, and yoga classes as well as gym memberships for the boys that earn it during their stay. Most weekends include skiing, biking, hiking, fishing, and camping.


Sober fun is a critical component of adolescent programs and there is no shortage at Rising Peak Academy. We believe in filling every free moment with community building and recreation. We are able to build a peer-driven and supportive community to combat self-esteem and anxiety issues with peak climbs, fly-fishing, paint-ball, water-parks, go-carts, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, frisbee golf, mountain biking, camping and we always love a day behind the boat. We believe in the changes that the Wilderness provides in our young men and leverage our location in Northwest Montana to its fullest extent.


At Rising Peak Academy, our young men have the opportunity to participate in mindfulness activities throughout their stay. The benefits of mindfulness are well documented and include decreased stress, improved cognition, reduce distractions, and the practices helps alleviate both depression and anxiety. There are additional physical benefits that include better sleep, weight-management, and can help fight pain and inflammation.
